With a location immediately adjacent to the River Tay it is imperative that sufficient facilities are in place to deal with storm events and mitigate risk of flooding from periods of rainfall. An early infrastructure project was to construct an underground storm water retention tank within the central waterfront area. Constructed in 2010 the storm tank is located two metres below the road adjacent to the waterfront civic space. The tank is designed to hold excess water during high tidal periods then release the water as the tide recedes.
This storm tank is part of a larger package of drainage systems serving the waterfront area
