Dundee Waterfront benefits from excellent transport connections. This includes the main east coast railway line which connects directly through Dundee to Aberdeen in the North and Southwards to Edinburgh and London.
An early stage of infrastructure works involved the strengthening of the 575metre long railway tunnel that lies below the central waterfront. During 2006 and 2007 the tunnel roof was excavated, repaired, reinforced and sealed prior to the commencement of above-ground works in the vicinity.
The route of the tunnel now principally lies below Thomson Avenue until turning southwards towards the renewed railway station.
