May 26, 2022

Dundee Waterfront featuring as one of the finalists for the inaugural RTPI Scotland Awards for Planning Excellence.  Twenty two submission were received and these have whittled down to 12 finalists across four categories.

Waterfront Place Dundee, Submission By Dundee City Council

Waterfront Place is a space that excites, encourages a range of active and interactive uses and engages those who explore the wider waterfront. It is a space that includes a range of features, surfaces and opportunities for play, marking a key point of activity on the edge of the River Tay, and in combination with the V&A Dundee and Slessor Gardens forms an important focus for outdoor activity and interaction. The project delivers a number of health focused initiatives in the city – promoting walking and cycling and utilising the local natural environment and community infrastructure to promote healthier lifestyles.

The judging panel of Maggie Bochel, Barbara Cummins, Craig McLaren, Susie Stirling and Jane Tennant said “We were delighted to see the level of interest generated for these inaugural awards and by the quality of the projects, people and organisations who were entered. It is was a difficult job assessing what the finalists should be but we are confident that each and every finalist highlights excellent practice and will provide inspiration for others. We look forward to announcing the winners later in June.”
