Why Dundee

Why are developers, investors, bankers, house builders, restaurateurs, bar operators and hoteliers flocking to Dundee? They come in search of a share of the action in our city's £1 billion waterfront regeneration project.

Now more than halfway towards completion, the riverside regeneration scheme has already been named as the 3rd largest regeneration scheme in the UK and has won an impressive range of national and international design and development awards, including; Best Place in Scotland and designated as a UNESCO City of Design.

To add to the city's success, construction is underway to create the V&A Museum of Design Dundee. As the world's most famous design gallery, the V&A could have chosen any city in the world for its first venture outside of London. It chose Dundee. Scheduled to open in 2018, the V&A Museum of Design Dundee is predicted to attract 300,000 extra visitors to the city, as well as a new surge in development aimed at the hospitality sector. Waterfront director Allan Watt said: "We need more businesses in advance of the surge in visitors that will accelerate in the next year or so. We encourage entrepreneurs to engage with our business community by opening new restaurants, bars and cafes."

Dundee's rapidly spreading reputation as a first class centre for education attracts students from throughout the UK and from across the globe.

With two thriving universities and the support of a further education college and other educational facilities, Dundee's students and residents enjoy a high quality of life, with easy access to world class golf courses at St Andrews and Carnoustie as well as easy road and rail connections to Glasgow and Edinburgh, plus direct flights to London.

With immediate access to the North Sea and to Scotland's majestic mountain scenery, sailing and climbing are popular outdoor sports all year round. The city and surrounding area also enjoy a thriving arts and literary scene.

Business opportunities

With the V&A Museum of Design Dundee due to open in 2018, hotels, businesses and retailers are already reaping the rewards of Dundee’s transformation. Significant growth potential is expected as a further 7000 + jobs are created through the Dundee Waterfront project.

Opportunities for developers, investors and business ventures are still available in what is shaping up to be one of Western Europe's most extensive and transformative waterfront projects.
