New Dundee Railway Station

The new Railway Station opens and The Water's Edge commercial development in City Quay has been completed and construction has started on a commercial development at site 6.

Opening of the V&A Dundee

The award-winning V&A Dundee opens, the only design museum outside of London to attract visitor numbers in excess of 275,000 annually.

Slessor Gardens

The grass planting at Slessor Gardens is complete with the surrounding roads now open, construction of the V&A Dundee museum continues; The new drainage pond at South Commercial street is complete and work has commenced on the construction of the new railway station building.

Thomson Avenue

Thomson Avenue now open to through traffic. Construction work has started at the V&A Dundee with the first elements of the cofferdam starting to extend out into the River Tay.

The Tay Road Bridge

The Tay Road Bridge Access Ramps project is complete. The realignment of Thomson Avenue and Riverside Esplanade are clearly visible as construction nears completion.

Out with the old

The Railway Station, Olympia Leisure Centre and adjacent hotel have been demolished. The Tay Bridge access ramp realignment works are continuing with the east bound off ramp nearing completion.

South Marketgait

South Marketgait has been realigned to enable the creation of a new development site at Yeaman Shore. Dundee City Council's former headquarter building at Tayside House has been demolished and realignment of the Tay Road Bridge access ramps are well underway. The Dundee One office development has been completed at City Quay and the new Holiday Inn Express is open.

Olympia Leisure Centre

The original Olympia Leisure Centre, located on the Shoreline of the River Tay, was demolished to make way for the Central Waterfront redevelopment The replacement opened in June 2013. The new £31 Million Olympia swimming and leisure facility at East Whale Lane attracted over 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Featuring a 50 metre main pool, a wave pool, rapid river, dive pool and flumes it offers facilities for families and dedicated sport swimmers.
