Dundee is a thriving regional, economic and commercial centre for a large catchment area. It has seen strong growth in its economy over the last decade. Employment and business start-ups continue to rise whilst average earnings are 4% higher than the Scottish median.

Key economic sectors include education, biotechnology, digital media, engineering, telecommunications, energy, tourism, electronics, health and retail.

In excess of £500 million is currently being spent on various capital projects within Dundee including the waterfront development and the reshaping of the University of Dundee's campus in the city's cultural quarter.

Dundee has one of the largest research communities in Europe with over 2500 people in the life sciences sector alone. The waterfront redevelopment also includes the regeneration of an old railway yard to now include a new £20million digital media park.
