V&A at Dundee will be an international centre for design for the widest public, housed in a world-class building at the heart of Dundee's waterfront. It will host major exhibitions, celebrate Scotland's design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent, and encourage design innovation for the future. Due to be completed in 2016, V&A Museum of Design Dundee will have a significant economic impact on the city, and will contribute to Dundee's development as a business and tourism centre. Home to one of the largest dedicated museum-standard exhibition spaces in Scotland, it will host world-class touring exhibitions. V&A at Dundee will lead an innovative programme to support the development of Scotland's creative design culture, providing opportunities for designers, makers, business and enterprise. Through its wider learning and outreach programmes it will provide inspiring opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn and get involved in design heritage and creativity. V&A at Dundee will have outstanding social spaces, making it a great place to meet, eat, relax, browse, learn and shop while enjoying the building's architecture and its world-class location on the River Tay. V&A at Dundee will become a centre for everyone - a place to enjoy and be proud of. V&A at Dundee is being driven by Design Dundee Ltd, a ground-breaking partnership between the Victoria and Albert Museum, Dundee City Council, the University of Dundee, the University of Abertay Dundee and Scottish Enterprise.

About the Partners

The V&A was established in 1852 and is today regarded as the number one museum of art and design in the world. The University of Dundee is home to one of the UK's best art and design schools - Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design - which has been consistently rated as one of the top art and design colleges in the UK over the last decade and has gained a reputation for innovation. The University of Abertay Dundee was the first British University to offer courses in computer games technology. Its Institute of Arts, Media and Computer Games is a centre of excellence and has contributed to Dundee's reputation in gaming innovation. Dundee City Council has overseen a cultural renaissance in the City over the past 20 years. Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee Rep Theatre, the Space (home to the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance), and the recently reopened and refurbished McManus Galleries are playing a part in re-establishing Dundee as a centre for art and culture. Scottish Enterprise is supporting a number of initiatives to promote Scotland's digital media and tourism industries. Together with Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise is driving the Dundee Waterfront regeneration programme.
